Before you reach out

Your questions, answered.

Find the right starting point for your playing, from a first lesson to an upcoming audition. Learn how Membership and private coaching can support your next step.

I'm new to the violin. Where should I begin?

The Membership's Beginner Blueprint starts with the essentials: holding the violin and bow, then making your first sound. If you'd prefer individual guidance, you can ask Richard about private coaching.

How is Membership different from private coaching?

Membership combines a self-paced course library, play-alongs, downloadable sheet music, live group classes every other week, and a member community. Private coaching is for working directly with Richard on your own playing and goals.

Can Richard help me prepare for an audition?

Yes. The studio works with violinists preparing for music-school and orchestral auditions, including repertoire, technique, and a purposeful practice approach. Share what you're preparing for when you reach out.

What if I get stuck while learning online?

Membership students can ask questions in the live group classes held every other week and connect with other violinists in the private community. If you need focused one-on-one help, ask about private coaching.

Do I need a violin before I get started?

If you don't have an instrument yet, Richard provides guidance on choosing a suitable beginner violin. Renting is an option too; you can ask about what makes sense for your situation.
